Five Highly Anticipated Restaurant Openings Generating the Most Buzz

Phowheels (Burtonsville): Owned by Tuan Vo, a Montgomery County native, Phowheels is set to introduce the DMV’s first drive-thru Vietnamese restaurant to Burtonsville Crossing in the late fall. Vo, who attended White Oak Middle School and Springbrook High School, currently resides in Burtonsville.

Tokyo Hibachi (formerly Nori Japan, Gaithersburg): Formerly known as Nori Japan, this restaurant is undergoing a transformation to become Tokyo Hibachi. Situated across from the former Lakeforest Mall at 9615 Lost Knife Rd in the Montgomery Village Crossing shopping center, Tokyo Hibachi is expected to open in mid-June.

Plaza Mexico (Flower Hill): Plaza Mexico, with existing locations in Frederick, is set to open a rooftop restaurant and bar at North Pointe at Flower Hill. This new 16,000 square feet retail and restaurant center is located at 18251 Flower Hill Way in Gaithersburg.

Yummy Bowl Mongolian Stir-fry and Sushi (Rockville): Coming soon to 2010 Veirs Mill Rd in Rockville, Yummy Bowl Mongolian Stir-fry and Sushi will occupy the space previously held by Bamboo Buffet in the Twinbrook Center. The news follows closely after the closure of BD’s Mongolian Grill in Bethesda.

Ruta Ukrainian Restaurant (Bethesda): Ruta Ukrainian Restaurant is slated to open at 4862 Cordell Ave in Bethesda, occupying the former site of Momo Chicken. With an existing location at 327 7th St in SE Washington, DC, Ruta’s menu will feature traditional Ukrainian dishes such as Varenyky (Ukrainian dumplings), Chicken Kyiv, and Meat Holubtsi (meat stuffed cabbage with sour cream).
