Hanaro Sushi, situated at 7820 Norfolk Ave in Bethesda, is presently undergoing renovations that will lead to its transformation into the latest establishment under the Kusshi Sushi brand. Commencing renovations earlier this year, the restaurant has remained open solely for carryout and delivery during this period. Following the refurbishment, it will showcase a new appearance and bear the name of Kusshi Sushi. Wesley Yao, the owner of Hanaro, acquired the restaurant in late 2016, and despite the change in management, it has continued to operate under the name Hanaro.
Additionally, Kusshi Sushi has formally taken over the space previously occupied by the renowned sushi restaurant Sushi Damo at 36G Maryland Ave in Rockville Town Square for more than 15 years. Sushi Damo, an inaugural tenant of Rockville Town Square, concluded its operations permanently on October 1st. Kusshi Sushi, with existing locations in Pike & Rose and Downtown Silver Spring, along with venues in Arlington Pentagon Row and Tysons Pike 7 Plaza in Northern VA, is planning to renovate the former Sushi Damo space. The restaurant has submitted drawings to the landlord for approval and anticipates initiating construction in early 2024, with a target opening date in the spring of 2024.
