Hal & Al’s Becomes the DMVs First Halal BBQ Spot

Hal & Al’s BBQ has opened in Ballston at 4238 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22203 back in December. Making the restaurant not only the first halal BBQ spot in Arlington but also, according the the Hal & Al’s website, the first halal BBQ spot in the entire DMV.

The entire restaurant is halal so that means customers won’t find any pork on the menu. The restaurant is most well known for its beef brisket but also offers beef ribs, turkey sausages, and sides such as old bay mac and cheese, jalapeno corn bread, and chili. Owner Mohsin Rehman was brought up in Baltimore but his parents were Pakistani immigrants. According the ARLnow,
Rehman combines Baltimore and Pakistani flavors in Hal & Al’s menu, he believes introducing different cultures food to each other can actually help bring people closer, the following excerpt can be found on the Hal & Al’s BBQ website:

“Today, our passion for BBQ, smoked over the same fire our forefathers used, is bringing people of all tastes and backgrounds together. For BBQ is the universal binder of humanity.”
