Kanpai BBQ and Shabu Shabu Buffet is set to debut soon at the Shops at Congressional Village in Rockville.
This new establishment, Kanpai, will offer Southeast Asian BBQ served directly at your table alongside a Shabu Shabu buffet experience. In Shabu Shabu, patrons will receive plates of meat, vegetables, and other ingredients like dumplings and udon to cook in the broth, offering a customizable dining experience.
While a Kanpai BBQ & Shabu already exists in San Diego, it remains uncertain if the two establishments are connected. Construction has commenced within the premises, and further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
The IVEA restaurant group, known for local favorites such as Gyuzo BBQ, Gong Cha, The Spot, Kyoto Matcha, Lao Sze Chuan, among others, in collaboration with Chicago-based Windfall Group LLC, acquired the shopping center through an auction in 2022 for $44 million. Plans to expand the culinary offerings of the shopping center are evidently underway.
