Kusshi Sushi had officially secured the space previously occupied by the renowned Sushi Damo at 36G Maryland Ave in Rockville Town Square, a location that had been a sushi staple for over 15 years. Co-owner Wesley Yao revealed that the restaurant is targeting an early July opening.
Sushi Damo, a longstanding tenant of Rockville Town Square, bid farewell on October 1st. Shortly after its closure, Kusshi Sushi swiftly stepped in, initiating renovations almost immediately.
This marks the second Kusshi Sushi establishment to open in Montgomery County this year, following the rebranding of Hanaro (located at 7820 Norfolk Ave in Bethesda) to Kusshi. Owner Wesley Yao assumed ownership of the restaurant, which has been in operation since 2008, in late 2016. Hanaro continued to operate until its official transition to Kusshi Bethesda.
Kusshi Sushi boasts additional locations in MoCo at Pike & Rose (its flagship venue) and Downtown Silver Spring. The restaurant chain also extends its presence across the DMV area, with locations in Arlington Pentagon Row, Tysons Pike 7 Plaza in Northern VA, and DC Glover Park.
