Update for Torchy’s Tacos First DMV Location

Torchy’s Tacos, a Texas-based eatery, is set to make its debut at 12266 Rockville Pike in Federal Plaza, taking over part of the space formerly occupied by Chuy’s and Ruby Tuesday. Progress has been made, and Torchy’s anticipates opening its doors later this year.

The restaurant successfully navigated its alcohol license hearing on Thursday, February 1st, at 11:30 am. With this regulatory hurdle cleared and the space stripped of its former Chuy’s interior, the focus now shifts to construction as the final step before the restaurant’s launch.

Torchy’s Tacos is renowned for offering “the most unique tacos, coveted queso and refreshing margaritas in the game, and the rotating Taco of the Month.” With over 115 locations across 14 states, Torchy’s Tacos is committed to serving tacos, sides, and drinks made from scratch and prepared to order. Although an exact opening date is not confirmed, based on the current state of interior progress (as seen in the photo below), it is estimated to be a few months away.

Ralph Ours, Director of Leasing, Mid-Atlantic Region at Federal, expressed a warm welcome to Torchy’s Tacos and Kura Revolving Sushi Bar as they expand into Maryland. These additions are seen as innovative enhancements that further solidify Federal Plaza as a popular shopping and dining destination for the Rockville and greater Montgomery County community.
